How to Use Spaces on Mac OS X Leopard: 14 Steps (with Pictures)

This article is about the Mac OS X feature Spaces. You will learn how enable it and use it on you Macintosh computer running OS X 10.5, also called Leopard.
STEPS

FROM YOUR DESKTOP, FIRST CLICK ON THE APPLE ON THE TOP LEFT CORNER OF YOUR COMPUTER AND SCROLL DOWN TO “SYSTEM PREFERENCES”.

CLICK “EXPOSE & SPACES”.

AT THE TOP OF THIS WINDOW THERE ARE TWO TABS. One is named “Expose” and the other is named “Spaces”. Make sure that that the Spaces tab is highlighted blue. If not, click on it.

SEE A BUTTON THAT SAYS “ENABLE SPACES”. Put a check by this.

ON YOUR KEYBOARD THERE WILL BE KEYS LABELED FROM F1 TO F12. On your screen, there is a button that says “To activate spaces”. Change this to any one of those keys on your keyboard that does not have a picture next to it. Make sure you remember what this is.

BELOW THAT, THERE IS A BUTTON THAT SAYS “TO SWITCH BETWEEN SPACES”. Change this to “Command Arrow Keys”. (Command is the one that has the four loops.)

QUIT OUT OF SYSTEM PREFERENCES.

OPEN ANY TWO APPLICATIONS. One could be safari, and the other could be Firefox.

CLICK ON THE KEY ON YOUR KEYBOARD THAT YOU CHOSE TO USE TO ACTIVATE SPACES.

IN THE TOP LEFT BOX, CLICK AND DRAG THE WINDOW OF ONE OF THE APPLICATIONS YOU OPENED TO THE TOP RIGHT BOX.

CLICK ON THE BOX ON THE TOP LEFT CORNER.

HOLD DOWN THE APPLE KEY ON YOUR KEYBOARD AND CLICK THE RIGHT ARROW.

YOU WILL BE TAKEN TO THE OTHER APPLICATION THAT YOU OPENED.

YOU CAN NOW HOLD DOWN THE APPLE KEY, AND YOU WILL BE TAKEN TO THE FIRST APPLICATION. You now have a new and easy way to organize and switch between your applications if you have more than one open at a time.
TIPS
You must have the most recent version of Mac OS X to use Spaces. (It is currently 10.5)
